African swine fever for several years remains the most common especially dangerous animal disease. Over the past week (May 9 – 15), 267 outbreaks of dangerous animal diseases were recorded in the world, 231 of them related to ASF, the publication PigUA.info reports with reference to the report of the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE).
Hungary remains the anti-leader in the number of cases of African swine fever. Last week, 118 outbreaks were detected in the country. In Ukraine, the last case of ASF was recorded in early April. However, the disease continues to spread actively in other countries, so the threat level for Ukrainian pig farms remains high. So, except for Hungary, last week 19 outbreaks of African swine fever were recorded in Romania, another outbreak – in Moldova.
In addition to ASF last week, 2 outbreaks of catarrhal fever of sheep (Greece) and 18 cases of bird flu (Hungary, Vietnam, Taiwan) were discovered in the world.
